Oil Recovery Services
Crude Oil Production / Refining
MST can eliminate or reduce many liabilities
MST was specifically developed to treat crude oil emulsions wherever they are encountered. Emulsions are a universal problem in crude oil production around central treating facilities, in crude tanks and transport systems, and at specific wellheads and production sites.
Emulsion-related problems and costs tend to increase as producers work with heavier crude and use enhanced recovery methods. These can be costly:
- energy and chemical use
- lost storage and transport capacity
- price penalties for off-spec shipments
- production bottlenecks
- well closures
Many refineries routinely deal with emulsions that impact performance of the desalter, sewer, wastewater treatment, benzene recovery unit, slop oil treating and tank farm systems of the refinery. Studies have shown there is an internal recycle of emulsified water and solids that runs through these systems and is a self-feeding loop.
Because of its automated, unattended and self-adjusting operation, MST is the only system that can cost-effectively break this loop and proactively remove the water and solids, thereby optimizing performance of all of the related operating units.
MST can provide:
- debottlenecking and throughput benefits
- reduced energy, chemical, maintenance and vendor treating costs
- improved reliability
- greater desalter flexibility for handling heavier crude, while also potentially freeing up tanks from slop oil storage and treating service
